Know Your Numbers

Heart and Blood Pressure
Blood pressure target: below 130/80 mmHg. Total cholesterol: below 5.5 mmol/L. Ask your GP about a Heart Health Assessment (Item 699) if you are 45–79

Blood Sugar and Diabetes
Fasting blood glucose should be below 6.0 mmol/L. Type 2 diabetes often develops without symptoms — a simple blood test is all it takes to check.

Weight and Prostate
Healthy BMI: 18.5–24.9. Prostate health discussion recommended from age 50 — or earlier with family history or urinary symptoms.
Let's Talk

You Do Not Need to Be in Crisis
Men are far less likely to seek help for mental health — but you do not need to be at breaking point to talk to your GP. Stress, burnout, mood changes, sleep problems, and relationship difficulties are all worth a conversation.

We Can Help
Your GP can assess your mental health, discuss medication options, and prepare a Mental Health Care Plan for bulk-billed psychology sessions. If you need urgent support: Lifeline 13 11 14, MensLine 1300 78 99 78, Beyond Blue 1300 22 4636.

What is Men's Health?
Men's health covers preventive care, chronic disease management, hormonal health, sexual health, and mental wellbeing — all of which affect quality of life significantly but are often left unaddressed. A GP appointment is the starting point for all of it. Whether you are coming in for a routine check, a specific concern, or just want to know where you stand — we make it easy.
