When Should I Bring My Child In?

Parent with unwell child at GP

Development Concerns

If your child is not meeting milestones for speech, movement, or social interaction — even if you are not sure — it is always worth checking. Early referral makes a real difference.

Child with ear infection

Recurring Illnesses

Frequent ear infections, chest infections, or skin conditions that keep coming back need investigation — not just repeated short-term treatment.

Teenager looking withdrawn

Behaviour and Mood Changes

Changes in behaviour, school performance, sleep, appetite, or mood in older children and teenagers are worth discussing with a GP sooner rather than later.

ABOUT THE SERVICE

What is Child Health?

Child health visits are not just for when your child is sick. Regular GP contact through childhood helps track growth and development, keep immunisations on schedule, and catch any concerns early — when early intervention makes the most difference. Our GPs enjoy working with children and understand that every child develops at their own pace. We take concerns seriously, give you time to ask questions, and refer early when needed.
